15th International Toy Library Conference

The International Toy Library Association (ITLA) invites you to the 15th International Toy Library Conference taking place in South Africa.

The conference is planned and hosted by the Toy Library Association South Africa (TLASA) in collaboration with Cotlands and ITLA.

Ayanda and Sipho will guide you through the conference.

We invite toy librarians from Africa, America, Asia, Australia, Europe and New Zealand to meet and share their skills and knowledge, as well as showcase how their toy libraries promote opportunities to play.

TLASA is a South African association consisting of a network of organisations that promotes best practice in the field of toy libraries. TLASA’s vision is to see a toy library in every community in South Africa and its mission is to create a strong network of toy libraries.

TLASA, in collaboration with ITLA, have planned an informative, thought provoking, exciting and enriching African toy library focused experience, with plenty opportunities to network, dialogue and explore topics relevant to the world of toy libraries.

Who should attend:

  • International, African and South African toy librarians,
  • Non-profit organisations that promote play and that operate toy libraries
  • National and Provincial government departments, librarians at libraries,
  • Corporate social investment managers working in the space of toy libraries
  • Individuals working with children
  • Researchers in play-based learning/early childhood development
  • Play champions

We invite toy librarians from Africa, America, Australia, Asia, Europe and New Zealand to meet and share their skills and knowledge, as well as showcase how their toy libraries promote opportunities to play.

If you have done research relating to toy libraries, play, play-based learning, toy library systems, technological innovations for the toy library, quality assurance systems, qualifications or related field, we want to include this knowledge in our conference.

During the conference, TLASA will showcase the various models of toy libraries and the work they do by providing a toy library within reach of children from various types of communities.

Excursions:        

On Thursday 11th July 2019 delegates will be taken on an experiential tour of different types of South African toy libraries which will include sightseeing to places of cultural interest.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

There will be plenty of opportunities for networking, dialogues and inter-continental discussions during the conference.  You will also be able to experience the different South African cultures and play a number of our indigenous games each day as well as a toy exhibition from local suppliers.
