Cotlands, in partnership with Pik-it-Up, JMPD, SOJO, Numatic, Pick ‘n Pay and Seeff, have planned a Green Walk on 29 March 2014. This event plans to highlight two major challenges facing society today – the safety of our children and the deteriorating environment. By creating a greener environment and creating safer places for children to play, we are able to ensure a better world for our children to grow up and live in.
Cotlands encourages all concerned residents, parents, and socially and environmentally conscious young people, to join us in a 5km walk that will change the lives of vulnerable children.
The Green Walk route takes us through two major parks in the Turffontein area. These parks once safe, clean centres for children are now dumping grounds for rubbish and other waste.
Walkers will be encouraged to pick up litter on route to the parks as well as through the parks. This is a fun family event that will teach children some important values such as caring for the environment by not littering, and will also highlight the broader society need of once again having safe places for our children to play.
Date: 29 March
Time: Assemble at 08h00 and walk from 09h00
Starting point: Hoerskool Fakkel (Gantner Street, Forest Hill)
Ending point: Rotunda Park
