On Tuesday, 21 April 2020, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced in a statement further economic and social measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the aims of this package is to fund and provide relief to hunger and social distress.
On Friday, 3 April 2020 Cotlands joined over 40 NPOs and signed a letter addressed to President Ramaphosa requesting an increase of R500 per month to the Child Support Grant (CSG) for the next six-month period to help families deal with the shock and effects of the COVID-19 crisis. We are pleased that the President has heeded our call and child support grant beneficiaries will receive an extra R300 in May and from June to October they will receive an additional R500 each month.
Ensuring our children have good nutrition, proper health care and early learning opportunities are three vital factors that will ensure our children not only survive but thrive, especially during these difficult times. Cotlands remains committed to provide our children with early learning opportunities on a daily basis. We have set up an online data free page that our parents can access with daily early learning activities and weekly lesson plans. This helps our parents to encourage our children to continue to play at home and stimulate them with early learning activities to avoid in regression in our children’s development.
Thank you to all our stakeholders and donors for their support. #OurChildrenMatter
