Mandela Day | 18 July

Mandela Day | 18 July

There are around five million young children in South Africa that are recipients of social grants with very little access to early learning opportunities. Cotlands goal is to set up 500 toy libraries across South Africa by 2022. The Cotlands toy library model is innovative, sustainable and cost effective solution to South Africa’s lack of early childhood development. The toys in the toy library help children learn and also develop their school readiness skills.

How can you help Cotlands this Mandela Day?

Gather a group of friends, family members or colleagues together and help us fill these libraries with a combination of new toys and toys made from waste materials.

  1. Buy new toys from our Cotlands online toy store. Help us fill 500 toy libraries with new toys.
  2. Make toys from waste materials that can be used in our toy libraries. All you need to do is collect the waste items over the next few days so that on Thursday, 18 July your group can have 67 minutes of fun making the toys.  Once done, you can drop them off at your nearest Cotlands toy library listed below and we will make sure that children living in marginalised communities benefit from your efforts.

Cotlands toy library depots:

Gauteng:                   9 Data Crescent, Ormonde, Johannesburg

Eastern Cape:           Unit B13b, BKB Building, Fitzpatrick Road, East London

KwaZulu-Natal:        55 Saunders Street, Hlabisa

Mpumalanga:          Mashishing Thusong Service Centre, 1193 Blio Street, Lydenburg

Western Cape:        5 Ray Street, Macassar, Cape Town

On behalf of the children we have cared for, those we are caring for now, and those we are still to encounter, we thank you for your support this Mandela Day.
